1928 quarter

0

This is the 1930s’ Century Farmer’s Market. The farmer is making a fool of himself and is looking for something that will appeal to the new and hungry crowd. It’s been almost half a century since the farmers in the 1950s were the first to harvest and market corn. It’s not hard to imagine the farmer’s face.

The 1930s are such a long way off now, you might think they wouldn’t be able to imagine what is happening. But the old farmer might have had a friend who was into this kind of thing back during the late 1940’s. I’m not sure, but I do think someone who has lived through this period of time might have a very good idea of what is going on.

I think it is safe to say we are indeed living through the last quarter of the twentieth century. The last time I thought it was this bad, I was 17 years old when I lived in a small town in Wisconsin. And I was totally unaware that my father was in a prison camp in Germany during WW2. I would have been completely oblivious to all of this stuff.

The number of people who have a memory of this period of time is roughly equivalent to the total number of people in that time period. I’m not sure that’s the right number, but it’s a pretty large number.

1928 was a time of great prosperity for America and for Europe. It seems that the 1920s were a time of great prosperity for America too. For example, the number of births in that year was the highest in 100 years and the number of deaths was the lowest.

This is a problem. It’s like we have a generation that grew up in the 1920s, who will be able to remember it, and a generation that grew up in the 1950s, who will be able to remember it, and a generation that grew up in the 1960s, who will be able to remember it, but whose children are oblivious to what happened during the 1920s.

The world is so different for the first 50 years of the twentieth century. Those who lived through that era will probably remember their childhoods and their families and their families, but will never forget their family.

They got the world back, they grew up with it and they probably remember every moment of their lives. What was so special about them was that they were no different than the rest of humanity.

Our families are what makes people unique, so if we can learn to become a better version of ourselves then we can help people get out of their own way. So here’s a simple strategy: Find a way to teach your children that they’re special and important. When they have a bad day, remember that their lives are not their own.
