Oprah Winfrey says in her book that she wanted to help people see what she sees as the beauty in imperfection. In the book she gives tips on how to be a better person. It’s a good read, but one that could use more of a little self-awareness.
Like most of her books, The Gifts of Imperfection has a great message about what to do if you are in the middle of a bad situation and what to do when you have the perfect person in your life. Oprah Winfrey is a master at giving us a good sense of what it is to be a human being. She is also a master at giving us advice and examples of how to do better.
While this book is in many ways a good and useful book, it is also incredibly self-indulgent and self-aware. The Gifts of Imperfection was actually written for Oprah Winfrey, and as a result Oprah does an excellent job of setting up the story in a way that makes it seem like it is written by Oprah.

Oprah has a very long list of books on her shelf, many of them written by her mother. The way they were collected and organized makes me think about some of the people who wrote them as well. She seems to be a bit of a perfectionist. For instance, shes a big fan of the work of George Orwell, and he writes his own book about the same time period. She seems to feel that her mother should have written her own book, and was determined to do so.
I think it’s important to get in a few books from people you admire. That way you can appreciate what they have to say about a subject that you’ve never thought much about. There is a reason that Oprah has written so many books. She’s a very smart woman.
