By the fact is that the majority of our thoughts and actions are on autopilot. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing either. Our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions carry us through our lives so we don’t have to stop and think about it every time we wipe our ass or start a car.
The problem is when we’re on autopilot for so long that we forget we’re on autopilot. Because when we’re not even aware of our own habits, routines, impulses, and reactions, then we no longer control them they control us.
The problem is that we are aware, but we are not actively controlling what we do, because we don’t have some sort of conscious mind or higher power to help control our actions. That is why we just continue doing what we’ve told ourselves to do even though we know it’s a really bad idea.
In my opinion, the best way to counter these memes is to write about them. For example, I wrote about the first meme in this article and it went viral. I can’t stop thinking about it now so here is a link so you can read it.
